Hello….
So, yes, while I’m a vanilla survivalist player for the most part, the reality is that the vanilla interface sometimes leaves a little to be desired. As such I do use several client side mods to make my life easier, and because they can be used with a unmodded server, I personally don’t consider them ‘cheaty’ (I do disable certain features if they do seem cheaty). I will also use this area to list any external apps I use.
MODS:
- Forge – Gotta load them mods after all. I used the standard Forge loader, if a mod doesn’t work with Forge I don’t touch it.
- EasyZoom – This mod give a nice easy zoom feature great for grabbing screenshots
- Inventory Tweaks – Now where did I put that…. oh yes! Sorting your chest/inventory with rules… this is a must have for my OCD. Here is my rules file InvTweaksRules
- ZynisHUD – This is the best HUD out there by far. It makes minecraft so much more enjoyable having good information nicely placed on the display, rather than the fairly ugly F3 debug sprawl.
- MapWriter – I’ve tried a few minimap solutions, but this seems to be the best IMHO. Not cheaty as most, and I only use it in survival once I craft a full sized map in game.
- Schematica – This is a AWESOME tool! Allowing you to save and load structures in game. is a great time saver, especially for redstone builds. I do not use the printer function in survival but even if you do, it only pulls from your real inventory.
RESOURCE PACKS:
- Default – I do use default a lot, what can I say, Mojang did a pretty decent job of most things other than glass in the default
- A moddified version of Dokucraft Light . I have added a few of the textures from Dokucraft Dwarven, and Monkeyfarm’s moddified John Smith, fixed the dumb birch doors, and a few other tweaks. Sorry but in good faith I can’t/won’t redistribute my modded version of dokucraft. I suspect if as you look at some of the screenshots/videos I’ll do with dokucraft turned on, it should be obvious what I’ve done and you can recreate it yourself if you want.
APPS:
- Minecraft – well of course….
- Logitech Gaming Software – This goes with my Logitech G13 I bought (and really need to use more) for Minecraft play.
- MineOS – This is a great turnkey solution for easily setting up and running a minecraft server. I run this as a VM on my own personal home server.
- OBS MP – Recording Software.
- Microsoft Movie Maker. Simple, but I think should get the job done.
